Sonora is home of the ´´Goulds´´ Turkey, the largest of the turkey species in America. These big toms weigh 20 to 30 lbs. Often sport beards up to 12 inches long and can have spurs up to 1 inch. Game is plentiful here and record book toms are quite common.
Hunting is done only in April during the strut. At this time you will see groups of turkeys at altitudes of 4000 to 10000 ft. in the high Sierra Madre mountains located in the eastern part of Sonora. Here you will find unspoiled, rough country that can present the avid turkey hunter a real challenge.
You can surely test all your techniques and skills to call and hunt these beautiful large birds. We provide a guide/scout to each hunter. These guides are very capable callers and are familiar with the hunting areas. They will carry your lunch, water, decoys and your turkey upon completion of successful hunt.
Your day begins with an American style breakfast after which you depart with your guide to the hunting area. After a day in the field, you will return to camp where you can take a shower and dine.
